Bible Gateway's Verse Of The Day

“You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” -Romans 5:6-8 Listen to chapter

The Sword Of Truth

The Sword of Truth, by Gilbert Morris is a well written Historical Christian novel that contains so many layers.
It introduces us to the reign of Henry the VIII and is every changing queens. One sees the workings of the English Court and the dangers that existed than which are still revelant today.
We also see the coming of the Prostestant Faith. There were christians that saw the abuse of the Catholic church and wished to break from it, but there were those who were motivated by political gain rather than faith. William Tyndale is with this tale doing his God given duty.In the mist of all this history is Myles Wakefield's world. We see a boy grow in to a man and into the christian faith. It is a very rewarding and informative read.

Verse Of The Day

Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other's faults because of your love.
Ephesians 4:2 (NLT)
Thoughts:
There are many people in our lives that pushes us pass THAT POINT, but one has to step back and see pass they flawless and let go. One must see that their flaws/faults may never go away. The cool thing is one can step away from the flaws and faults and still love that individual for who they are rather than what we want them to be. That is something I am still working on. I am leaving it up to God. :)

If Men Are Like Buses Then How Do I Catch One?

I have read this book and I am currently reading it for a book discussion. Michelle Mckinney Hammond is funny and down to earth. She has a way of explaining scripture that draws and edifieds you.

I aways thought that being single was a temporary state and transitional state to marriage. Singlehood was not a state, but a waiting area until the plane or bus comes. Ms. Hammond showed me that begining single is not a curse, but an opportunity to draw closer to God and grow as a christian. The state of being single is not something to hate, be ashamed of, but rather it is a type of freedom that marriagehood does not offer.

She demonstrates her points using biblical scriptures. Ms. Hammond does not merely throw quotes around, taking for granted what you know, but she generously desects the scriptures and shed some light on passages that are familar, from a different light.

Verse Of The Day

My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but CHrist lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God,who loved me and gave himself for me.
Galatians 3:20 (NLT)

Thoughts on The Verse of the Day

The verse of the day has many meanings. One meaning that I derive from its body is that there are things/storms/trials/mistakes that will come to ones door step and with this experience God can use it to form us and strengthen us. From this experience one can gain knowledge that can be used to strengthen fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

Literature is a door that leads to so many places. When you open a book you can be in France glancing up at the Eiffel Tower at one moment and riding a ferry on the Hudson River. So my people please open this book and come on a literary journey with me.
