Tuesday Afternoon Poems

#3

God’s blessings poured out on you

In the gift He has given

Your precious baby daughter

God’s gift sent down from heaven

May God pour out His wisdom

To raise her in His love

So she may become a woman of God

With faith in God above

Tuesday Afternoon Poems

#1

Your precious little girl

Is a blessing from the Lord

A beautiful expression of God’s grace

And what His love is for

May she grow before the Lord

As His princess that she is

For she has come into the world

For such a time as this

Evangelical Power In Action Church of God Sunday School Lesson

Good Afternoon Brothers and Sisters !!!

Sunday School Topic: The Kingdom of God
For August 12, 2012

Scripture to read: Matthew 6:33  ( please the the whole chapter  as well )

33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.(NIV)

33 Cherchez premièrement le royaume et la justice de Dieu; et toutes ces choses vous seront données par-dessus. ((Louis Segond)

Brief Explanantion:

He doesn't say-- seek for the Kingdom-- which is what Jesus would have said if He was addressing this command to unbelievers. Seek for it to get into it was not what  He was saying. He was speaking to those who are Kingdom Citizens, to make the interest of God's Kingdom their priority. (Please meditate on the scripture and the explanation and come with questions and coments )

Questions:
  • Are you a kingdon citizen?
  • Is God's Kingdom your priority?
  • In the other words are seeking the kingdom?
  • What are your ways of seeking the Kingdom of God?

Evangelical Power In Action Church of God Sunday School Topic

Good Morning Brothers and Sisters in Christ

Sunday School Topic for July 22, 2012 ( continued from last Sunday)

Title: How can one fully enjoy the goodness of God?

Text to read:  Psalm 37: 5-7

Commit thy way unto the Lord; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Brief Explanation:  Commit ourselves to the Lord means entrusting everything: our lives, families, jobs and possessions to His contril and guidance. To commit ourselves to the Lord means to trust in Him, believing that he can care for us better than we can care for ourselves. We should be willing to wait patiently for  Him to work out what is best for us. ( please meditate on this explanation and come with questions).

Questions:  What is the "Goodness" of God?
Are you actually enjoying the goodness of God?
If no, what do you think problem is?
If yes, what strategy have been using?

But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong."

Tuesday Afternoon Poems: "The Flesh and The Spirit" By Anne Bradstreet

The Flesh and The Spirit

In secret place where once I stood

Close by the Banks of Lacrim flood,

I heard two sisters reason on

Things that are past and things to come.

One Flesh was call'd, who had her eye

On worldly wealth and vanity;

The other Spirit, who did rear

Her thoughts unto a higher sphere.

"Sister," quoth Flesh, "what liv'st thou on

Nothing but Meditation?

Doth Contemplation feed thee so

Regardlessly to let earth go?

Can Speculation satisfy

Notion without Reality?

Dost dream of things beyond the Moon

And dost thou hope to dwell there soon?

Hast treasures there laid up in store

That all in th' world thou count'st but poor?

Art fancy-sick or turn'd a Sot

To catch at shadows which are not?

Come, come. I'll show unto thy sense,

Industry hath its recompence.

What canst desire, but thou maist see

True substance in variety?

Dost honour like? Acquire the same,

As some to their immortal fame;

And trophies to thy name erect

Which wearing time shall ne'er deject.

For riches dost thou long full sore?

Behold enough of precious store.

Earth hath more silver, pearls, and gold

Than eyes can see or hands can hold.

Affects thou pleasure? Take thy fill.

Earth hath enough of what you will.

Then let not go what thou maist find

For things unknown only in mind."

Spirit.

"Be still, thou unregenerate part,

Disturb no more my settled heart,

For I have vow'd (and so will do)

Thee as a foe still to pursue,

And combat with thee will and must

Until I see thee laid in th' dust.

Sister we are, yea twins we be,

Yet deadly feud 'twixt thee and me,

For from one father are we not.

Thou by old Adam wast begot,

But my arise is from above,

Whence my dear father I do love.

Thou speak'st me fair but hat'st me sore.

Thy flatt'ring shews I'll trust no more.

How oft thy slave hast thou me made

When I believ'd what thou hast said

And never had more cause of woe

Than when I did what thou bad'st do.

I'll stop mine ears at these thy charms

And count them for my deadly harms.

Thy sinful pleasures I do hate,

Thy riches are to me no bait.

Thine honours do, nor will I love,

For my ambition lies above.

My greatest honour it shall be

When I am victor over thee,

And Triumph shall, with laurel head,

When thou my Captive shalt be led.

How I do live, thou need'st not scoff,

For I have meat thou know'st not of.

The hidden MAnnea I do eat;

The word of life, it is my meat.

My thoughts do yield me more content

Than can thy hours in pleasure spent.

Nor are they shadows which I catch,

Nor fancies vain at which I snatch

But reach at things that are so high,

Beyond thy dull Capacity.

Eternal substance I do see

With which inriched I would be.

Mine eye doth pierce the heav'ns and see

What is Invisible to thee.

My garments are not silk nor gold,

Nor such like trash which Earth doth hold,

But Royal Robes I shall have on,

More glorious than the glist'ring Sun.

My Crown not Diamonds, Pearls, and gold,

But such as Angels' heads infold.

The City where I hope to dwell,

There's none on Earth can parallel.

The stately Walls both high and trong

Are made of precious Jasper stone,

The Gates of Pearl, both rich and clear,

And Angels are for Porters there.

The Streets thereof transparent gold

Such as no Eye did e're behold.

A Crystal River there doth run

Which doth proceed from the Lamb's Throne.

Of Life, there are the waters sure

Which shall remain forever pure.

Nor Sun nor Moon they have no need

For glory doth from God proceed.

No Candle there, nor yet Torch light,

For there shall be no darksome night.

From sickness and infirmity

Forevermore they shall be free.

Nor withering age shall e're come there,

But beauty shall be bright and clear.

This City pure is not for thee,

For things unclean there shall not be.

If I of Heav'n may have my fill,

Take thou the world, and all that will."

Verse of The Week: " God's Got Your Back. Be Still"

"The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

Tuesday Afternoon Poem: "Verses upon the Burning of our House" by Anne Bradstreet

Verses upon the Burning of our House

In silent night when rest I took,

For sorrow near I did not look,

I wakened was with thundering noise

And piteous shrieks of dreadful voice.

That fearful sound of "Fire" and "Fire,"

Let no man know, is my desire.

I, starting up, the light did spy,

And to my God my heart did cry

To strengthen me in my distress,

And not to leave me succorless.

Then coming out, behold a space

The flame consume my dwelling place.

And when I could no longer look,

I blest His name that gave and took,

That laid my goods now in the dust;

Yea, so it was, and so 'twas just.

It was His own; it was not mine.

Far be it that I should repine.

He might of all justly bereft,

But yet sufficient for us left.

When by the ruins oft I passed

My sorrowing eyes aside did cast

And here and there the places spy

Where oft I sat and long did lie.

Here stood that trunk, and there that chest;

There lay that store I counted best,

My pleasant things in ashes lie,

And them behold no more shall I.

Under thy roof no guest shall sit,

Nor at thy table eat a bit;

No pleasant tale shall e'er be told,

Nor things recounted done of old;

No candle e'er shall shine in thee,

Nor bridegroom's voice e'er heard shall be.

In silence ever shall thou lie.

Adieu, Adieu, all's vanity.

Then straight I 'gin my heart to chide:

And did thy wealth on earth abide?

Didst fix thy hope on mouldring dust?

The arm of flesh didst make thy trust?

Raise up thy thoughts above the sky

That dunghill mists away may fly.

Thou hast a house on high erect;

Framed by that mighty Architect,

With glory richly furnished

Stands permanent though this be fled.

It's purchased, and paid for, too,

By him who hath enough to do-

A price so vast as is unknown,

Yet, by His gift, is made thine own.

There's wealth enough; I need no more.

Farewell, my pelf; farewell, my store;

The world no longer let me love.

My hope and treasure lie above.

Tuesday Afternoon Poems: "Casting My Care" By M.S.Lowndes

Casting My Care

Lord I continually set before you

My requests and all my needs

With thanksgiving I come unto you

My concerns unburdened to thee

I wait for your intervention Lord

In quietness of soul and mind

And worship at your footstool

Leaving my cares behind

And Lord I express my thanks for you

For all you are to me

I thank you Lord that I matter to you

Though at times I cannot see

Because of the circumstances in life

The things that I go through

I find my eyes are on the storm

When they should be looking to you

So help me Lord each precious day

No matter what life brings me

To carry on with hope and faith

And to rest in you with peace.

Verse of The Week: "There is salvation in no one else!"

11. For Jesus is the one referred to in the Scriptures, where it says,

‘The stone that you builders rejected

has now become the cornerstone.’[c]

12.  There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.”

Acts 4:11-12 (NLT)

Tuesday Afternoon Poem

God took the strength of a mountian,

The majesty of a tree,

The warmth of a summer sun,

The calm of a quiet sea,

The generous soul of nature,

The comforting arm of night,

The wisdom of the ages,

The power of the eagles flight,

The joy of a morning in spring,

The faith of a mustard seed,

The patience of eternity,

The depth of a family need,

Then God combined these qualities,

When there was nothing more to add,

He knew his masterpiece was complete,

And so, He called it ... Dad

Monday Afternoon Verse: "Faith is Needed to Please God"

"And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him."

Hebrews 11:6  (NIV)

We pray, fast, give and sacrifice so much  for Christ, but the greatest pleasure that we can give, is having faith in God. Getting to know Him and bringing Him contentment in the service that you render, requires trust. You must have faith to build the bond and faith to keep that bond alive. I pray that faith permeates your soul.

Father's Day Poem: My Father Is A Christian by Joanna Fuchs

My Father Is A Christian

My father is a Christian;

He leads our household well;

With instruction from the Bible,
Right behavior he'll compel.

Yet he steers us with compassion;

His gentle love is true;
He conforms to our Lord Jesus,

So we know just what to do.

He teaches us with purpose,

Guides us in all Godly ways,

So we will take the right path,

And serve our Lord with praise.

I'm glad you're a Christian, Dad;

You help me see things clearly.

I'll always look up to you,

And love you very dearly.
