Bible Gateway's Verse Of The Day

“The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.” -Hebrews 1:3 Listen to chapter

Tuesday Afternoon Poems:"The Voice Of God"

Hello Brother and Sisters in Christ! Every Tuesday I share a poem by a christian poet. It could be a classic or comtemporary. I believe it is important to see God in every aspect of our lives. On Tueday I share the Lord through the work of poetry that is written by His servants. Enjoy and share your thoughts. Peace be with you.

When we hear the voice of God

Speaking to our hearts,

Do we obey and follow Him

Or are we slow to start?

For when the Lord speaks to us,

We need to heed the call

And do the things He wants us to

Giving to Him our all

I know at times it can be hard

To know the Father’s will,

We need to listen to His voice

For He speaks when all is still

Many times we fret so much

And rush so much about,

We then find all our busy-ness

May cloud our Saviour out

So this is why we take some time

To be still before the Lord,

So He can speak into our lives

And show us so much more.

Tuesday Afternoon Poems:"By Night when Others Soundly Slept"

By Anne Bradstreet (1612--1672)

By night when others soundly slept

And hath at once both ease and Rest,

My waking eyes were open kept

And so to lie I found it best.

##

I sought him whom my Soul did Love,

With tears I sought him earnestly.

He bow'd his ear down from Above.

8In vain I did not seek or cry.

##

My hungry Soul he fill'd with Good;

He in his Bottle put my tears,

My smarting wounds washt in his blood,

And banisht thence my Doubts and fears.

##

What to my Saviour shall I give

Who freely hath done this for me?

I'll serve him here whilst I shall live

And Loue him to Eternity.

Tuesday Afternoon Poems:"A Ballast for My Soul"

Life is like a stormy sea

That tosses to and fro,

But God's Word will ever be

A ballast for my soul.

By its truth I'll be held fast

Till I reach heaven's shore

Where I will be home at last

And sail life's sea no more!
