Thoughts:

When things are going well and the sun is shining in our lives we don't pray as often, we don't praise as often and God is not infused very often in to our daily routine. It is when the waters tremble and the wind blow with ferocity that is when God is called upon. Psalmist is saying that the times of hardship or not hardships at all, but a way to draw closer to our savior.
